NAPALM GIRL

NAPALM GIRL

Nudity is considered inappropriate as it shows some sort of distraction to the public. The picture itself can attract sexual predators and draw attention that its acceptable to photograph a young vulnerable girl in need of help and publish it to make the story even more effective. The picture violated the young girl’s privacy as it took away her right of keeping her body sacred.

Even though the picture was taken many years ago and it was only a young girl fleeing from a struck bomb, the current state of what the picture possessed then can still have an impact on the woman’s reputation till this day, since is still alive. Sexual repression leads to a build up of passion and typically is a form of violence. This is mostly done through the use of media such as Facebook, YouTube and all other networking sites.

Personally I think the picture is given an inappropriate context as is a photography of many children fleeing away with the presence of some soldiers but its main focus is on the Napalm girl more than what it was suppose to capture, which is sticking to survive from a bomb. For instance one could have just interpreted the picture as children running away to save their lives and are escorted by soldiers, but then it took a different turn and focused on the girls nudity. Therefore the picture was showing a struggle of what happened in Vietnam but with an inappropriate context.
